Bryn Mawr is a women’s college and the authors of the study are women. Seems like you found the wrong image to go with this post.

Given that the study authors were Mary Henlea & Marian B. Hubbella, and that the study was conducted at Bryn Mawr (an all-women’s college even to this day), The title, picture, and text of this post are all very misleading, encouraging your readers to assume the scientists were male.

JB, back then, at least in the U.S., in loco parentis was law. Anything more extreme than a tea party would get you expelled.
