I always thought there scientific studies showed that humans are happiest when they are involved in something that entails working towards a goal, during which the highest state of happiness occurs when one finds "the zone," if you will. This type of "high" is commonly found in athletes - (i.e. when Michael Jordan hit something like 7 or 8 three-pointers in a row during a Bulls game...) I believe there is a lot of this type of mind-body connection in Yoga and pranayama too. Sites like www.mindandbodyworkout.net tend to correlate the concept of happiness or total peace with exercise and breathing. Finding your flow, so to speak.
